Tiia

Tugila kodulehele saadeti kiri: Tere. Mina olen Tiia. Olen 23 aastane. Mul on 7 -aastane poeg. Tööl olen käinud põhimõtteliselt viimased 3 aastat. Kogemust on telefonimüügi konsultandina, tanklas müüjana umbes pool aastat ning olen töötanud õmblusfirmas ja liini taga pagarina. Hetke seisuga olen jäänud koduseks. Kahjuks jäi mul õigel ajal lõpetamata põhiharidus, käidud on 8 klassi. Üheksas klass jäi pooleli. Peamine eesmärk oleks see nüüd ära lõpetada, kuid samas olen ka huvitatud sellisest erialast nagu Noorem IT spetsialist. Seda saab omandada kutsehariduskeskuses. Hetkel olen võtnud end Töötukassas arvele. Lihtsalt tunnen, et kardan veidi astuda uuesti kooli. Möödas on väga pikk aeg, kuid huvi on olemas.

IN ENGLISH

A letter was sent to the Prop Up homepage: Hi. I am Tiia. I am 23 years old. I have a 7-year-old son. I have been working for the past 3 years. I have experience as a telephone sales consultant; I worked at a petrol station for about half a year and I have worked at a sewing company and as a baker. Currently, however, I do not have a job. Unfortunately, I did not finish basic education and I have only studied for 8 years. I left in the middle of the 9th year. My main goal would be to finish it now but I am also interested in becoming a Junior IT specialist. I could study to become one at a vocational education centre. I have registered myself at the Unemployment Insurance Fund. I just feel a little bit scared to go back to school. A long time has passed, but I am interested. It is also a good time for me to go to school at the moment, because my current partner has a good and steady job and he has his own flat. I used to live in different rental flats and they were expensive. I also had to have a steady job. I am just wondering if there is anyone who might help me in sorting out my thoughts and setting clearer goals in my life. I am not very young anymore, but it seems to me that it is not too late to learn and maybe, with a better education, I might be able to acquire a proper vocation…
A Youth Prop Up youth worker wrote to the young woman and they agreed to meet. On three occasions, the young woman did not show up to the meeting. The Prop Up youth worker continued sending letters and, after three months, they actually met. It turned out that her partner abuses her mentally and economically. He did not allow her to go to work and only gave her money for food. In reality, he did not allow her to go to school, either. The young woman was at a loss and did not know what to do. Several individual meetings took place. One evening, the young woman phoned and said that her partner had asked her to leave.
The Prop Up youth worker encouraged her to go to work. In a couple of days, she got a job at a local catering company. At the same time, they looked for a rental flat and in the meantime, she was living with a friend. When a rental flat was found, it was necessary to find financial resources. As the collateral and deposit for the flat cost a lot, the Youth Prop Up youth worker asked for financial help from a network member. The network member bore the cost of renting the flat. The young woman got the flat and a job in a couple of weeks. She also got help from the Food Bank. Now she is a student at the adult gymnasium, studying alongside working. Individual conversations continue to take place.
